Welcome to the January issue of our newsletter.

The Reserve Bank of Australia does not meet in January due to the holiday period. Therefore, we will not be able to advise you of any cash rate movement until next month.

If you own a swimming pool or spa and intend on selling or leasing the property in the near future then we suggest that action needs to be taken now. On or after 29 April 2015 properties won't be able to be advertised for sale or lease if they do not have a valid certificate of compliance or a relevant occupation certificate. A certificate of compliance can be obtained from the local council or an independent accredited certifier registered with the Building Professionals Board. They can be found on the Board's website on www.bpb.nsw.gov.au. We suggest that you allow for plenty of time to obtain a certificate of compliance as anecdotal evidence suggests that around 95% of pools fail at the first inspection. Councils advise that it can take up to 90 days before a pool becomes compliant, mainly due to the availability of qualified contractors to make necessary changes.
