Welcome to the September issue of our newsletter.

At its meeting today, the Reserve Bank of Australia decided to leave the cash rate unchanged at 3.5%.

We remind you that as of 1 October 2012, the current $7,000 First Home Owners Grant will no longer be available. This has been replaced by a new grant which is only available if a first home buyer purchases a new property which has never previously been lived in. If the first home buyer purchases an existing property after this date, they will no longer receive any first home benefits. If a first home buyer is considering purchasing a property, they must exchange contracts by 30 September 2012 in order to receive the current $7,000 grant. This change has not been well published or well understood. Should you know anyone who may be a first home buyer, please pass on this information to them.
