The Blue-Winged Kookaburra
The Kookaburra (Dacelo novaeguineae) is the largest of the Kingfisher family and is native to eastern Australia.
Their call is one of the most distinctive calls of the Australian bush … famous for “laughing” like a human.
The kookaburra is also a profound symbol of overwhelming joy, enthusiasm, optimism, joviality, and it’s lucky for those of us who hear kookaburras regularly when they share their laughter.
Kookaburras are all about having a good time; especially about enjoying life with family and friends.
It is for this reason that the kookaburra is our mascot … they love to share good things, and we believe they also share the daily news amongst their family, peers, and friends.
The kookaburra call is most often heard at dawn, and you may hear other kookaburras join in.
It’s their signal of a new day … a day to savour and rejoice that’s not to be wasted, because we’ll never get it back again!
We like to start each day with a purpose, do the work, and then we can smile at the end of the day! 😊
